In furtherance of its corporate goal of promoting the culture of entrepreneurship in Nigeria, Diamond Bank, recently held its “7th Diamond Businessxpress Enterprise Series” in the northern city of Kaduna.
The event which is the first of it kind to be organised by any commercial bank in the city brought together over 200 operators of small and medium scale businesses across the northern parts of the country.
Declaring the one-day seminar open, Victor Ezenwoko, head, Regional Businesses Upcountry, Diamond Bank, said the programme was conceived as a way of providing support to small and medium businesses.
He disclosed that the bank resolved to focus on growth and development of this aspect of the economy, in view of the multiple impacts it has on the economy in general.
Ezenwoko, also said the move was informed by the realization that no nation can truly developed without unlocking the creative energy of the vast majority of her people, involved in small businesses.
“In furtherance of our corporate social responsibility of giving back to the community, Diamond Bank, which has set the pace in the area of SME banking, has resolved to stage this seminal in Kaduna.
“The decision to support the sector, is based on the impact it will have on the on-going national effort to reduce poverty, through boosting SME activities in the country” he added.
Earlier in his presentation on “Diamond Bank Offering for SMEs” Chima Nnadozie, who represented the head, MSME Proposition, Chidinma Lawanson, said the bank has developed specific products, for operators of businesses in that sector.
One of the products, according to him, is the “Diamond Businessxpress Account, developed to help business operators to grow their venture.
“We offer them a proposition, because we understand their need for a flexible account that will enable them carry out transactions at a minimal rate, the account is with zero COT.”
