Direct-To-Home satellite television (DSTV) provider, MultiChoice has launched a new sport channel, SuperSport 3 Nigeria (SS3Ni), to offer subscribers exclusive access to wall-to-wall football actions from Europe and Nigeria.
According to Segun Fayose, public relations executive, MultiChoice Nigeria, SuperSport 3 Nigeria, which is on DStv Channel 204, has been created as a response to Nigerians’ passion for football, as it has become inevitable to remove uncertainty surrounding live telecast of favourite European league matches, which Nigerian subscribers expect to see on DStv regularly.
Described as ‘the home of football,’ the SS3Ni will offer exclusive football action meant for Nigerian viewers alone.
“This becomes necessary due to growing clamour by fans to have a channel dedicated exclusively to broadcasting favourite league matches to Nigerian viewers, as opposed to having these matches on different SuperSport channels,” Fayose said.
The SS3Ni he said will screen live matches from English FA Premier League, English FA Cup, Italian Serie A, UEFA Champions League, and the Nigerian Football league. In addition, popular TV shows of great European clubs like the Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid will also be aired on the channel.
He said: “SS3Ni will, in addition to screening live matches from Europe and Nigeria, incorporate studio discussions featuring sport analyst, Charles Anazodo and former Super Eagles superstar, Daniel Amokachi direct from SuperSport’s Lagos studio built recently to boost sport broadcasting in the country.”
Fayose further informed that MultiChoice Nigeria has invested over $500 million on sport development in the country.
“Recently, MultiChoice Nigeria acquired 2 new outside broadcast (OB) vans meant for live coverage and promotion of local league matches as part of its commitment to continued showcasing of the country’s abundant talents to the rest of the world,” he said.
