FAAN Boss Charges Workers on Performance

Mr. George Uriesi, managing director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has charged staff of Port Harcourt International Airport to put in their best while discharging their duties.

Ureisi also admonished them to always have it in mind that they were privileged to be staff of the organization at this time and as such should key into the transformation going in the Authority.

The MD bared his mind while commissioning three projects locally executed through direct labour at the airport by Mrs. Ebele Okoye, regional general manager South-South/ South-East.

According to him the staff of the airport must be ready to give their best to the organization through more dedication and efficiency that would show at all times that they were dissatisfied with unkempt and ill-maintained airport facilities adding that the Authority now had zero tolerance for slothful and lackadaisical persons.

The FAAN Boss told the staff that the era of nonchalance and slack behaviour in the organization was over for good.

While commissioning the Airport Guest House, Uriesi said the staff deserved decent accommodation that met international standards adding that his management had started putting in place a scheme that would transform the staff quarters in all the airports across the country.

He added that the management of FAAN was ready to improve on the welfare of the staff and that this was why staff on grade levels 15 and above have been given brand new cars to enhance their performance.

He however submitted that every staff must justify their inclusion on FAAN's pay-roll by doing what they were paid to do at all times noting that 'the transformation flight of FAAN is boarding and anyone without a boarding pass would certainly not join the flight'.

In her opening address, Mrs. Okoye, said all she had been able to achieve since October 2012 when she resumed in Port Harcourt would not have been possible without the support of the MD/CEO of FAAN.

According to her, the three projects being commissioned namely Protocol Car Park and Recreation Garden, Conference Hall, and Airport Guest House were projects designed to change the face of the airport  ín our own little way.'

Mrs. Okoye noted that the airport had recorded a lot of achievements in the last eight months but added that one area she was particularly happy about was in the upward swing of the revenue of the airport.

'”We are delighted to tell you that our revenue has not been this good, and we still work on towards a better performance which will make us realize our dream of being the second highest revenue generation airport in Nigeria”, she said.

The RGM noted that all hands were on deck to transform the airport to its original status of international standard adding that 'with the support of the MD/CEO Port Harcourt International Airport will regain her place among the nation's airports.
