Chief Osita Chidoka, minister of Aviation, has stated that the Ministry would partner with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to create mobility option for passengers coming to the city from the airport by bringing in registered buses to provide regular services at the airport alongside the Car Hire Service.
He said this was to reduce travelling cost for passengers and increase option of services to passengers.
The Minister said this when the National Officials of the NURTW paid a courtesy call on him.
Chidoka said that the situation where passengers pay high fare from the airport to the city because of lack of mobility options was not acceptable and negates the global standard of operation.
He added that there would be a meeting with the Car Hire Association to resolve the issue.
The Minister, while appreciating the visit of the NURTW officials said he would want the support he enjoyed from the Union in FRSC to continue with the new head of FRSC and to transcend to the Federal Ministry of Aviation where he now hold sway.
Alhaji Najeem Yasin, national president of the NURTW, in an address, said the main objective of the visit was to congratulate the Minister on his new appointment and to pledge the continuous support of the union to the Ministry.
