Officers and men of the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria will continue to receive professional training at par will global standards.
They will also undergo overseas programme to enhance their proficiency in fire fighting at all Nigerian airports in line with recommendation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
This was disclosed by Engr. Saleh Dunoma, MD/CEO of FAAN, at the Crew Commanders/fire fighter initial/Renal course currently taking place at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja.
The Managing Director, who was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Kabiru Mohammed commended the fire men and called on them to take advantage of the ongoing training programme to improve on their professional competence, which would ensure safety at airports.
The station commandant, Mr. Adebola Odugbemi, also emphasised the importance of the training. He promised to share his knowledge and experience on the job with the participating staff.
According to a statement by Yakubu Dati, general manager, Corporate Affairs at FAAN, the three week programme is being undertaken by fire and fighting officers drawn from different airports across the country.
