The fifth episode of the hilarious television drama series, Professor Johnbull, entitled “A Good Flavour”, would probably be the most interesting so far to followers of the series, as it featured one of Nigeria’s most adored music star, Chinedu Okoli, widely known as Flavour.

It was, as usual, an episode with one major plot supported by several other sub-plots, all aimed at preaching the same message of humility, integrity, honesty, diligence and transparency.

The episode opened with the entry of Flavour into the residence of Professor Johnbull, in his bid to seek the retired don’s insight in giving a ‘one-word title’ to his album.

The appearance of the superstar in the residence of Professor Johnbull expectedly attracted lots of excitement right from the gate, with the gate-keeper, Abadnego (Martins Neboh), ushering in Flavour with lots of hailing and fanfare.

The excitement continued in the house as the star met with Professor Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo) and his utterly star-struck housemaid, Caro (Mercy Johnson Okojie) who fainted upon confirming it was indeed ‘Fle’ in flesh and blood in their humble abode.

Flavour was to go on to meet other members of the professor’s household, such as his son, Churchill (Jnr Pope), and daughter, Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye).

Flavour’s general conduct and mien during his visit aroused the interest of the entire household, who generally were expecting to see some haughtiness around the successful musician. Caro, whose duty it was to clean after everyone in the house has eaten, was, for instance, surprised that the star opted to wipe the dining table by himself after having a meal.

She expressed her surprise that he was ‘doing things for himself’ in spite of being so successful. This allowed Flavour to educate her that some of the things he did on television or on stage were just ‘show business’. At home, he is a simple, quiet and even shy person.

The musician seized the opportunity to advise up and coming musicians and the youths generally to embrace honesty and simplicity in their bid to make it in life.

Subsequent scenes established the subject further, with a particular scene showcasing Churchill refusing to clean the table after enjoying some peanuts with his girlfriend. The musician-to-be felt it was beneath him to pick a few of the nuts that fell on the floor and instead called Caro to do the work.

Elizabeth told off his brother and chided him for his haughtiness. She was supported by Prof. Johnbull who ordered his son to take the broom and sweep the floor.

False lifestyles were flayed generally, even if comically, in other scenes in the episode. It was a thoroughly thrilling episode.

The series which is sponsored by grandmasters of data, Globacom, runs on Tuesdays at 8.30 p.m. on NTA network, NTA International on Channel 251 on DSTV and Startimes, with a repeat broadcast on Fridays at the same time on the same stations.
