Before stepping into the spotlight as Product Designer of the Year (Famasi.Africa) at the Africa’s Beacon of ICT Awards 2023, Adedayo Paul Adesuyi had already spent years building, mentoring, and designing with purpose. His recognition is not just a celebration of innovation it is the result of a journey rooted in service, skill, and impact.

N-Power Initiative 2019: Laying the Foundation
In 2019, Adedayo was selected as a facilitator for the N-Power initiative, a Federal Government program aimed at empowering Nigerian youth with digital and entrepreneurial skills. Over the course of the program, he trained over 2,000 participants, guiding them through product design, creative thinking, and digital tools that could help them build sustainable careers.
“It was more than a curriculum it was a calling. We were shaping futures, one session at a time,” Adedayo reflects.
Many of those participants have since gone on to build their own brands, launch startups, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. Adedayo’s mentorship extended beyond the program, with ongoing support that helped shape careers and ignite confidence.
Famasi.Africa: Designing for Health and Humanity
At Famasi.Africa, Adedayo led the product design of a platform that’s transforming access to medication and personalised care across Nigeria. His work focused on simplifying complex health interactions refills, reminders, consultations into intuitive, human-centred experiences.
“Designing for health means designing for trust. Every screen, every flow had to feel like care,” he shares.
Famasi.Africa’s impact has grown steadily, serving thousands and earning recognition for its clarity, empathy, and innovation. It was this work that became the centrepiece of Adedayo’s award at the Beacon of ICT ceremony.
Fees.ng: Empowering Education Through Design
Another key milestone in Adedayo’s journey is Fees.ng, a platform designed to help students and families manage school fees with transparency and ease. By streamlining payments and reducing friction, Fees.ng is helping democratise access to education one transaction at a time.
“Education should never be held back by complexity. Fees.ng is about removing barriers, not just processing payments,” Adedayo explains.
His design leadership on Fees.ng reflects his broader philosophy: that technology should serve people, not overwhelm them.
The Award That Honors the Journey
On May 27, 2023, Adedayo was honored with the Product Designer of the Year award at the Africa’s Beacon of ICT Merit and Leadership Awards, hosted by Nigeria CommunicationsWeek. The recognition celebrates not just his work at Famasi.Africa, but the years of impact that led there from grassroots training to scalable platforms.
“This award is for every learner, every teammate, every community that believed in the vision. We’re building something that matters,” he said during his acceptance speech.
What Comes Next
With this milestone, Adedayo is expanding his mission: to mentor more creators, advocate for inclusive design, and continue building platforms that elevate lives. His story is a reminder that when skill meets service, recognition follows and the impact echoes far beyond the stage
