The next episode of the popular TV Drama Series, Professor Johnbull airing this Tuesday, will focus on crude oil and its troubles in the country.
Sponsored by Globacom, Professor Johnbull next episode, entitled Oil Windfall critically looks at the issues associated with the country’s over-reliance on oil as an economic mainstay.
Some of the issues discussed include youths’ restiveness and their unreasonable sense of entitlement as well as a tendency to indulge in illegal activities to make it in the oil sector.
The producers of the series in a statement said: "the discovery of oil in the country in the early 1960s was no doubt a good development which has led to the growth of the nation's economy. But over the years, events and situations have come to show that over-dependence on oil also has its own attendant effects."
They explained that the fifth episode of Season 2 of Professor Johnbull is aimed at educating the public on the negative effects of over-dependence on oil by any economy.
“We hope it will help in educating our viewers that there are other potential natural resources other than oil that we can tap into for our existence," the statement said.
A star to look out for in this episode is Oguns Baba (Samson), who plays a major role in the explication of the literary theme. Oguns Baba has always blown his fans away with his admirable Waffi accent. In this episode, he plays a more central role.
Featuring on the show this Tuesday also are the regular characters in the TV drama series, namely Professor Johnbull acted by Kanayo O. Kanayo, Flash (Stephen Odimgbe); Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso); Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye); Mai Doya (Funky Mallam); Etuk (Imeh Bishop); Ufoma (Bimbo Akintola); Caro (Mercy Johnson Okojie); and Abednego (MC 4 God).
Who will be caught on the wrong side of propriety this time around, Flash, Olaniyi, Mai Doya or Samson? What is Oil Windfall about? Viewers will find answers to these questions in the episode.
The programme airs on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes at 8.30 pm on Tuesday. The repeat broadcasts of the episode will come up on Friday at the same time on the same TV channels.
