Growing Activities of Cyber Criminals Bothers Yar’Adua

President Umaru Musa Yar’adua has decried the rate at which cyber crime is increasing in the country and called for measures to stem the tide.
He also warned that the situation is now a global problem that needs global solution to avoid the trend consuming the minds of the youth.
Yar’ Adua stated this while declaring open a conference on cyber crime and security organized by the National Assembly Committee on Anti-money Laundering in collaboration with Cyber Security Coalition in Abuja.
The president spoke through Alhaji Sani Idris, acknowledging the increasing rate of cyber crime in the country and called on lawmakers to legislate on the matter urgently to avoid it getting out of control. 
He said that where appropriate and enforceable laws are not in place, the fraudsters can launch their attack on innocent victims, while acknowledging that cybercrime has become an organized syndicate, reaping financial rewards and using diverse tools to threaten different platforms in various countries to cheat and loot.
In a remark, Hon. David Mark, senate president lamented the death of legal and institutional framework for dealing with cybercrime in the country adding that it has the capacity to disrupt economic and political balance of a nation if not properly addressed.
