Gunmen Monday killed one police officer following an attack on Bara Divisional Police Station in Yobe State and also burnt down the MTN and the Glo masts in the area after the attack on the police station.
The attack on Bara, the headquarters of Gulani Local Government Area of the state, took place at about 1am, and lasted for two hours.
The gunmen succeeded in burning down the Police station and carting away three cars in the area, including a Hilux Van belonging to the local government.
The State Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Rufai, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television in Damaturu, said though the Police station was burnt down with a rocket propelled grenade, the attack was repelled by the police.
He also confirmed the death of a police corporal, whom he said was killed in his residence after the attack.
Mr. Rufai, however, said no arrest had been made and no individual had claimed responsibility for the attack.
