Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has threatened to declare a state of persona non grata on any of its members found guilty of $180million Halliburton bribery scandal and urged Federal Government to immediately publish names of Nigerians involved in the saga no matter how highly placed in the society.
 
Dr. Samuel Nzekwe, national president of the association stated this opening of the 27th session of the 2009 mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme at Lafia, Nasarawa state.

He expressed disappointment with the attitude of Nigerians and call on all hands to be on deck in order to check corruption in the country and described corruption as a canker that has eaten deep into the fabric of the nation and advised that the only way Nigeria can move ahead is for the rule of law to fully operate.
 
Nzekwe  said that ''The rule of law is the option,where there is no rule of law a ot of things would go bad but if we have he rule of law in place, where men and women are equal before the law there will be quick despensation of justice and a lot of things will be corrected and our country would be better for it''
 
The president said the association has made its position on how to tackle the crisis to the president, stressing that for Nigeria to come out of the crisis unhurt there was the need for the country to diversify its economy.
 
According to him, ANAN has given the Federal Government blue print on how to achieve vision 2020 and the 7 point Agenda of Mr. President and stressed that the association is calling on the president to strictly adhere to the blue print
 
''If we can achieve the vision 2020 automatically we would have survived the economic meltdown'', he added.
 
The president who explained that the purpose of the conference is to revalidate membership of ANAN as a criteria for conferment of fellows of the association and appointments into various standing committees of the association, said that ANAN is a new organisation formed to advanced the cause of accountants and correct certain deficiencies in accounting profession.
