Cross River State government has concluded modalities to revitalize its media outlets for government’s programmes, projects and policies to be received by the citizenry.
Governor Liyel Imoke stated this at the end of an on-the-spot assessment of renovation work at Cross River State Television Transmitting Station, Odukpani and inspection of both television and radio equipment at Cross River Broadcasting Corporation, Calabar.
According to Imoke, the re-organization programme which started last year has recorded tremendous success as the state radio signals are received all over the state and beyond. He said the television station will create the same impact when it becomes fully operational, adding that equipment installed are of the best technology with the mast refurbished.
Imoke remarked that the equipment can measure with the best anywhere in the world. According to the governor, Cross River state intends to undertake manpower development of staff in order to ensure the sustainability of the equipment, saying, however, that a little more needs to be done for the installation to be completed.
On the state Newspaper Corporation, publisher of the Nigerian Chronicle, the governor disclosed that efforts have reached advanced stage, through a Public Private Partnership, PPP, to turn the publication into a community newspaper to be sold in the state, promising that by the time the arrangement is concluded, the paper will be completely re-engineered and reorganized.
