Somtochukwu Udom, a young accountant has emerged winner in a 3-month online education bundle competition organized by global technology giant, Intel Corporation (Nigeria) and mobile operator, MTN Nigeria.
For his insightful and excellent entry, Udom, carted home the coveted prize of an Intel powered Samsung Notebook preloaded with three months MTN internet bundle along with a suite of Intel educational software and applications.
At the prize presentation session held in Lagos, an elated Udom expressed gratitude to Intel Nigeria and MTN for encouraging him with the gift and facilitating the union of technology and education in Nigeria and Africa.
Udom said: “I am excited with the prize and I will use it to train my kids and wards; this education bundle is a very great idea from Intel and in Nigeria we need to truly maximize technology to boost education; it helps to increase retention and create a ‘learn and fun’ platform for adult and kids”.
“Technology revolution is in full force and we need to make the transition from print-based learning to interactive whiteboards and Web-based references and curriculum. It’s happening faster in some countries than others and we have a long way to go in order to close the digital divide but I am happy that with initiatives such as this, we are on the right track.”
