Interswitch, 3line to Power LCC e-Payment Technology for Tolling

Indications have emerged that Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has appointed Interswitch and 3Line Card Management to power its electronic payment technology for tolling on the rehabilitated and upgraded 49.9 kilometre Lekki-Epe expressway, the company recently assured that it would adopt electronic payment system as a method of toll payment to provide needed convenience to road users.
The toll plazas installed on the expressway were designed to accommodate three methods of toll payment; e-Tag electronic payment device, the SwiftPass electronic contactless card, and cash. eTag is an electronic device that is capable of receiving signals from electronic sensors installed at the toll plazas. Vehicles on the eTag account receive the highest incentives, thus it provides the fastest and most convenient access through the plazas because no vehicle will be stopped as it drives through.
On other hand, SwiftPass is a contactless card that enables electronic payment at the toll plazas. It is a more convenient and cheaper option of payment than cash, as the company explained: “We now about to enter into the next major phase of this project, which is the revenue collection stage, and importantly for that, you can see that it’s not just about us standing at a plaza and collecting money.
