Kaymu.com.ng, Nigeria’s leading online marketplace celebrates Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, woman nationalist and representative of the feminist cause in Nigeria, in celebration of Women’s Day,

Ransome Kuti’s activism is traced back to the marketplace where she helped women entrepreneurs with their businesses.

This led to the creation of the Abeokuta Women’s Union (AWU) a movement that aided Kuti to promote women’s rights to education, employment and to political participation.

Women’s Day is a day to celebrate acts of courage and determination by women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries, communities and their families.

As a brand dedicated to driving the growth of SMEs in the country, Kaymu wants to say thank you to female entrepreneurs this Women’s Day using Ransome Kuti as a point of reference to the everyday woman.

According to Tomiwa Oladele, Kaymu’s public relations manager, said, “Women like Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, are a pride to any nation and stress the vital role of women as agents of development and change.”

Kuti was described in 1947 by the West African Pilot as the “Lioness of Lisabi” for her leadership of the women of the Egba clan on a campaign against their arbitrary taxation.

Kaymu is Nigeria’s leading online market place where buyers and sellers can meet and make the best deals for used or new products, such as smart phones, computers, fashion and clothing, home appliances for the cheapest price thanks to the fixed or auction pricing system.
