Lagos State, Motherland to invest $400 Million on Resort Project

Lagos State government and Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (Pman) have joined forces with United States based ‘The Motherland Group (TMG) LLC’ to establish the Badagry Historical Resort, valued at about USD $400 million, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek can authoritatively reveal.
The centre would be a tourist attraction site, which will also house an open theatre/entertainment pavilion, music school and a state-of-the-art recording studio for all genres of music.
Tee Mac Iseli, president of Pman, said the project is undertaken in order to promote showbiz both in Nigeria and across Africa.
He said that feasibility studies have been done for the project. “Within the next one month, we are bringing into Nigeria some of the directors of the board to meet with the governor of Lagos State and finalize talks on how to get the land allocation for the project.”
He disclosed that the centre had been scheduled to be sited in Dubai but that they were able to convince the directors of Motherland Corporation, to bring it to Nigeria because of the potentials that abound in the country.
Tee Mac added that the resort will also house the world’s only Jackson’s memorabilia display to be located in the Jackson music pavilion. This music pavilion will be the first of its kind, dating from the beginning of music, and capturing the true essence of African music.
“This will be an adventurous ride giving you an historical overview of African music from hologram images, concert footage, a state-of-the-art recording facility, to robotic figures displaying the rhythmic beats from 300 years ago where music began leading up to the biggest African group in the world - The Jackson Five,” the TMG said earlier in a statement.
Marlon Jackson, the eldest of The Jackson Five is actively involved in this project and is a director in TMG.
