Lagos state has made history as the first state in the country to go on DSTV –the most prominent satellite broadcaster in Africa with over 200 channels in 50 African countries

Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), governor of Lagos State said that as the Lagos Television goes international, it would remain committed to its local roots, cultural and indigenous values and will not sever the umbilical cord that binds both together.
The governor spoke while switching over the Lagos State Television (LTV) to the DSTV at the LTV grounds in Ikeja added that the more of Lagos that is projected nationally and internationally, the quicker the country would record to accelerated development.
He assured the promoters of DSTV that the three months benchmark grace period given to the station to prove its worth will be backed by the State Government and is sure that LTV will meet the deadline.
The Governor saluted the local people like the comedians and artistes on whose commitment, belief and enterprise LTV grew from a dream to reality and remained sustained till today without whom the journey would have been a mirage.
Mr. Dewunmi Ogunsanya, chairman of DSTV Multichoice, had commended Fashola for scoring another first with the switching on of LTV on DSTV.
He added that in admitting the LTV onto its network, the DSTV has had to eliminate one of its former channels to give space to LTV and expressed opinion that the station would not disappoint.
In his remarks at the occasion, Mr. Femi Ayeni, zonal director of NBC described the switching on as a positive development which would stimulate growth of the broadcasting industry especially in the area of cultural promotion.
Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, commissioner for Information and Strategy, in his welcome remarks said the quest to actualize the partnership started some three years ago and that its kick off means that things would never be the same again positively in the state.
