Students of the University of Lagos, last week at Akoka Campus were entertained by the four  aspiring music stars on probation  during the week in the popular TV reality show MTN Project Fame West Africa,  even as the academy upcoming stars  got a feel of what it’s like to step into stardom  when Dorcas Yeboah (number 15) from Ghana, Caroline Agbonlahor (number 1) and Sopriye Opunsuju (number 12) both from Nigeria and Nii Ankra (number 3) from Ghana, received the star treatment ‘meeting and greeting’ their fans and friends at the University of Lagos Sports Complex, Akoka, Lagos.
The four music stars from the academy, were  given a warm  welcome at the campus, by the students  of Unilag , Nigeria’s  foremost university and  other students from neighbouring institutions  such as Yaba College of Education (Yabatech), Federal College of Education , Akoka, Lagos who converge  on the Unilag Sports Centre. On arrival at the campus, the Project Fame students made straight to the studios of the Unilag FM, where they had an on air chat with ace radio presenter Kamar, They reached out to their fans across the cities of West Africa and solicited their support through votes. On leaving the Unilag Studios, the young starlets who were already being cheered by the large crowd around the campus, drove round the university premises, greeting and waving to their fans.
The on air personality interview also involved Mr. Kelvin Orifa, the brand manager of MTN Xtracool who explained the concept and essence of the Project Fame academy as a platform for the expression of the essence of the Xtracool brand in the country. According to Mr Orifa, " as we all know, the Xtracool brand is a youth oriented brand, a brand that believes so much in the social and economic empowerment of the youth in the Nigerian society. The Xtracool brand is out to create that empowerment among the youth and also strengthened their entrepreneurship potentials. so we see  Project Fame as a platform for the manifestation of this obligation, hence the need to bring it down to Nigeria so that we can deliver our Xtracool promise to the Nigerian youths through the Project Fame West Africa Academy".
As usual, Wale Akinjogbin the amusing and bracing MC, who is also an Xtracool ambassador  being a product of the MTN VJ search, was on ground to keep the crowd alive and give them the fun of their lives with interesting jokes and chats. The DNMT (Dance Na the Main Thing) group also delivered an impressive dance performance that had the crowd go wild, but this was nothing compared to the happy cheers gotten by Dorcas, Nii, Caroline and Sopriye when they got on the stage and were introduced to the crowd.
The crowd went wild as the students took turn to thrill them with their talents, performing their probation songs to the crowd. From Bob Marley’s ‘Waiting in Vain’ to Sean Kingston’s ‘My Love’, Third World’s ‘Now that we found love’ and Jimmy Cliff’s ‘Reggae Nite’, they sent the cheering crowd to ‘cloud seven’ with their stunning delivery of the hits, urging the crowd to vote for them to keep them in the Academy.
The response of the crowd was encouraging.  In the typical Nigerian students’ character, the crowd balled out of control as they sang along in loud cheers and danced tirelessly to the melodious rhythm.
The Xtracool brand manager Mr. Orifa dolled out some MTN freebies such as branded Project Fame shirts, notebooks and free invitation cards for lucky students that were able to answer the MC’s questions. The cards admit one to the post eviction party on Saturdays at a popular nite club in Lagos
