Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande, minister of State for Information and Communications, will among top dignitaries this Friday in Lagos, grace the formal launch of Focus Television and commissioning of its ultra modern live studio.
The minister will be accompanied by the executive vice chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Engr. Ernest Ndukwe, who is the special guest of honour.
Focus Television is a cable network with bias for Information Technology (IT) and has been running for over a year, broadcasting entertainment; gospel, business and IT related programmes.
Speaking on the planned first anniversary celebration of the platform, Tayo Adewusi, chief operating officer of Focus television said the cable TV is tilted towards modern technology with lots of local content. According to him, "commissioning the live studio is another phase in the life of Focus Television and we are going to have more of local content which forms about 70 percent of its contents."
He explained that they are rolling out their drums to celebrate for 30 days with a lot of talk shows where 100 top Nigerian celebrities including CEO of companies, musicians, actors and actresses will be celebrated and invited live, to discuss burning issues in IT, entertainment, business and religion, as the case may be.
Adewusi says he will bring to bear his over eight years experience in ICT, political and entertainment reporting on television to add glamour to the entrance of the latest cable television platform.
Focus Cable Channel is part of the 48 Channels 24/7 Disc Broadcasting Limited is introducing to its teaming subscribers with variety in Cartoons, Musicals, Movies(both local & foreign); sports, educational, among others.
Adewusi said the platform has gone a long way to add value and humour to the life of the public adding that it has a vision that will be later transformed into terrestrial television. "For now, we shall be operating as Cable TV and providing contents for Multi-channel Cable Television (MCtv) that has the franchise for cable television transmissions."
Adewusi said the decoder costs only N7,000 with N3,000 monthly subscription fees to enable subscribers enjoy unending digital mixed package of fun. The platform comes with 10 complimentary channels, 3 cartoon/children’s channels, 8 musical channels, 4 local movie channels, 3 foreign movie channels, 1 comedy channel, 7 additional channels, 6 sports channels, 5 general interest channels, 2 educational channels and much more to come.
