New Horizons the world’s No.1 ICT Training Institution has organized an award ceremony/seminar for top organizations in Nigeria. Mr. Tim Akano, managing director, New Horizons, said the award ceremony was organized to reward organizations that have paid focused attention towards the growth and empowerment of their staff. He explained that successful organizations around the world are those that provide their staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to come up with winning solutions that give such companies the competitive edge. He said that New Horizons was glad to be partners to these forward thinking organizations in Nigeria and that was why they are been rewarded for their efforts. He further said that the seminar on technology strategy for business growth was conducted because of the phenomenal impact technology was having on global business, he also said that New Horizons considers it as a key imperative to continually educate and bring to the knowledge of C-level executives the critical issues that will be affecting Nigerian businesses and industries so that executives are better informed of how to resolve uncertainties, minimize threats and create new opportunities to grow their businesses. At the award ceremony First City Monument Bank came tops as the best company for IT staff development, while Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) won the award for best company in the usage of e-business initiatives in staff training and development, other winners for IT staff development included UBA, Fidelity Bank, UAC, Toyota, Oando, First Bank, First Inland Bank, Mantrac, STI, Access Bank, Guinness, Celtel, Chevron. Gifts were presented by Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman, chairman of Accenture Africa and vice chairman New Horizons Nigeria who encouraged the victorious organizations to continue to develop their staff for triumphant growth of their institutions At the seminar, the lead facilitator Mr. Niyi Yusuf- a partner with the systems integration and technology unit of Accenture, presented to participants the state of the Nigerian/world economy and the role technology is currently playing in assisting organizations in creating new opportunities for themselves. He enumerated the strategic imperatives and the key trends being witnessed the world over as a result of technological innovation and encouraged participants to be at the vanguard of using technology in creating competitive advantage for their organizations. Mr. Sulaiman commented that Nigeria was at the verge of an explosive growth, he said that Nigeria could easily replicate the success being witnessed by India and the other Asian countries if Nigerian companies are focused, think big and are willing to invest in Nigeria and sacrifice for the good of the society. Participants who witnessed the two events commended New Horizons for their foresight in organizing the award ceremony and the seminar, they said the events showed the commitment of New Horizons towards assisting organizations in growing their businesses, they enjoined the leadership of the company not to relent in their efforts or services but to continually look for ways to provide value added services.
