Amnesty International (AI), human rights watch, has alleged that there are torture chambers in police stations across Nigeria and that the torture techniques used by both military and police are disturbing.
Amnesty International is a non-governmental organisation focused on human rights with over 3 million members and supporters around the world.
According to the organization, a report report titled,”Welcome to hell fire: Torture and other ill-treatment in Nigeria”, will to be presented at a press conference in Abuja on Friday by Nicola Duckworth, AI senior director of Research; and Netsanet Belay, Africa research and advocacy director.
“From starvation to sexual assault and tooth extraction. It shows how conflict with Boko Haram has exacerbated the problem, with soldiers arbitrarily detaining and torturing large groups of people as they hunt for members of the armed group,” sayid excerpts of the report.
AI said torture survivors will be available for interviews at the event.
