The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has declared her readiness to partner as many Registrars and affiliates as possible to bridge the gap in the DNS Industry in Nigeria.

Sunday Folayan, president of NiRA made the remark in an e-newsletter shared by the Association, where he advocated for registrars to get in touch with the Association in targeting youths and small and medium businesses (SMBs).

Folayan who gave account of NiRA’s participation at e-Nigeria 2015, said, “NiRA also had an exhibition booth, with some Registrars taking advantage of the booth to market the .ng brand at the event”.

“The new Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu visited the NiRA stand in the company of the DG of NITDA, Engr. Peter Jack. This presented an opportunity for yours truly to explain to the Honourable Minister who we are, what we do, and how NiRA contributes to the national GDP”.

He said the Association is “passionate about Human Capital Development, and consider this as one of NIRA’s Corporate Social Responsibilities. The NiRA Academy as a vehicle, is fulfilling this mission by partnering with other stakeholders in conducting entrepreneurship trainings to bridge the gap in the DNS market in Nigeria”.

Meanwhile, on Saturday 21st November 2015, the Academy hosted the first of such trainings in conjunction with “Whogohost”, a NIRA Accredited Registrar.

The participants were taught website development using Content Management System and other entrepreneurial skills. The Training was free of charge.

“Yours truly participated in educating and encouraging our youths on the abundant opportunities in the DNS Industry, and the benefits of using the .ng domain names in building and conducting their businesses online.

“NiRA is willing to partner with as many of our Registrars and affiliates as possible to bridge the gap in the DNS Industry in Nigeria. Kindly get in touch with the Secretariat if you are interested in mounting such a Training.
