Worried by the poor implementation of federal government directive to its agencies to give indigenous software preference when choosing software, and none patronage by private sector, National Information Technology Development Agency (Nitda) plans to encourage its use by both government agencies and private sector through the implementation of Nigerian content in Information Technology policy.
Prof. Cleopas Angaye, director general, Nitda, stated this during a visit to Computer Warehouse Group in Lagos. He said the policy will make it mandatory for both government agencies and private sector companies in the country to use local content. He said the policy will require companies to collaborate with available content service providers to ensure that their products are of international standard.
Prof. Angaye, expressed satisfaction with what Computer Warehouse Group is doing in the information and communications technology sector of the country’s economy and seeks for collaboration with government for the company to do more in the different areas it is playing in the sector.
He noted that federal government plans to ban the importation of some electronic products that are substandard.
Computer Warehouse Group is one of the fastest growing information and communication technology companies in West Africa. It offers integrated ICT solutions that add value to the operations of diverse clientele, using highly skilled and well motivated workforce. The group works with best-in-class partners and technologies from all over the world.
