Palmplay, a digital store that allows for users to connect and have access to download contents has increased its daily download rate from 5,000 downloads to about 15,000 within the last one month.

The 15,000 downloads were by visitors in Palmplay’s select 75 stores scattered around the computer village in Ikeja.

Speaking to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek Mamoye Oluwaseun, country account officer, Palmplay (Afmobi), said that they target to have about 1000 spots “for our hotspots in Lagos by the end of March and 7000 spots in Nigeria by December, 2016. These 7,000 spots will give us a daily download rate of 1,050,000”.

Palmplay works both online and offline and our focus is the offline store.

Palmplay offline is the offline digital store. “We have our hotspots in various locations, users can connect to these hotspot and have access to our contents for download without using their mobile data. The various contents include Games, applications, movies, music, wallpapers, comics and so on.

“Some of these contents are free while some are paid for. For the paid contents, we have our afmobi recharge cards that users can load on the palmplay platforms on their phones and be able to activate the contents downloaded.

“Our target audience is anyone that uses a smart phone. Our contents are open to everyone including kids, students and adults”.

Oluwaseun said that, so far, the fact that Nigerian can be able to access these contents and download them without using their mobile data and because some of these contents are outrightly free has made the acceptance rate for palmplay increase a lot.
