Professor Johnbull Advises Against Trial Marriage by Students

Professor Johnbull, the Glo-sponsored TV drama series, enters the second week in Season Four on Tuesday with the social satire treating the issue of ‘trial marriages’ by students in tertiary institutions. Without mincing words, the erudite Professor advised students against the practice.

Titled Campus Marriage, the programme comes up on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes at 8.30p.m.

Sponsors of the Sitcom and national telecommunications company, Globacom, in a statement in Lagos said "the issue of ‘trial marriage’ is common among undergraduates, especially those in institutions where there are no established official accommodation or hostel facilities. While in some instances, the campus couples do have the chance of living together as husbands and wives after graduation, the majority of such relationships ended on campus with tales of woe trailing them."

Indeed, some of the campus marriage ended up in fiasco. Globacom said that Campus Marriage, therefore, highlights the dangers of ‘trial marriages’ and the lessons therein are not only for the young ones in schools, but also for parents and guardians".

The company added that "in line with the tradition of Professor Johnbull to highlight moral decadence in the society, the new episode airing this week touches on this behavioural tendency that has eaten deep into the fabrics of social and family values. Viewers will certainly have value for their time as they watch Campus Marriage”.

Campus Marriage features Kanayo O. Kanayo (Professor Johnbull), Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Etuk (Imeh Bishop), Ufoma (Bimbo Akintola), Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko), Flash (Stephen Odimgbe), and Churchill (Jnr. Pope Odonwodo), all regulars in the weekly programme.

Viewers will be sufficiently enlightened on what ‘trial marriage’ is all about. They will also find answers to the following pertinent questions: Has Jumoke changed from being a pretentious lady, who falls victim of campus marriage? Is trail marriage real or mere fantasy? And will Professor Johnbull close it with his philosophy on campus marriage.
