Programos Software Limited, an indigenous software development firm in the Nigerian ICT industry has in a separate award ceremonies won two awards including Software Company of the Year 2009 and IT Champion award 2009 respectively.
The awards were presented recently to Programos at the just concluded Titans of Tech awards night organized by the Technology Africa and at the just concluded Adipeng 2009 World ICT conference organized by the Information Technology Association of Nigeria, Itan, the Nigerian Computer Society, NCS, and the World Information Technology Alliance Services, WISTA under the chairmanship of Dato’ Dan E Koo from Malaysia.
In his remarks, Don Pedro Agambi, managing director of Technology Africa organizer of the Titans of Tech award said that Programos Software products have the-state-of-art technology to support the Nigerian financial institutions.
According to Agambi, Programos Software which has continued to be the  toast of the  Nigeria ICT market, especially for the financial sector,  has the capacity to support the Nigerian growing ICT market said to be attracting international community.
Similarly, Programos Software was  awarded IT Champion award 2009, according to Jimson Olufuye, president, Information Technology Association of Nigeria, ITAN,  the award is in recognition of the company’s exemplary commitment to the advocacy, application, promotion, use and deployment of Information Technology infrastructure and contents in your workplace as a means of boosting productivity and fast tracking the business of governance, learning, and creation of jobs towards the attainment of the 21st Century Knowledge Society in Nigeria.
Jimson Olufuye, who has been preaching local content, said with optimism that Programos’ indigenous software products can compete favorably with other foreign software products in the international market.
“Programos products have been certified by the appropriate authority and have the capacity to support Nigerian banks scrambling for foreign software applications” he said.
Reacting to this development, Amos Emmanuel, President/CEO of Programos Software Limited with excitement told newsmen shortly after receiving the awards that Programos is one of the greatest convergent ICT entrepreneurs in the country, having been rated world champions to bring about sustainable ICT education to millions of Nigerian youths across the country very soon.
According to him, the public-private-sector initiative will complement the federal government’s preparedness for the vision 20:2020, adding that the education of the Nigerian youths from the unfolding initiative, which will involve indigenous computer manufacturers, other local and foreign ICT champions, will form the basic foundation for a true self-growing national development and create millions of employment opportunities across the country.
