Rotary Donates Treated Nets to Hospital

In line with its global vision to better the worth of humanity, Rotary Club of Mushin-Metro, District 9110, Lagos visited Shomolu General Hospital donating treated mosquito nets.

Rotarian Mike Umo, the Club’s president, who had during his installation presented a N3.9m budget for ICT and other projects in Mushin, said that the visit was in line with Rotary passion to impact the society positively.

He said as a community service Oranization, the Club donated 250 treated nets to hospital and hopes to make more donations to other hospitals in the environs.

“It is the primordial obligation of our Club to make carry out service work each Rotary year. So, for every service year to be successful, the Club must solve a need in the society. We are unrelenting in contributing our quota to alleviating the sufferings of the masses. We know that malaria is one of the deadly killer that must be stopped, hence the treated nets were to help the hospital reach out to the patients,” he said.

Umo added that the ICT projects are still in the offing as the Club perfects its plans to visit identified schools for the establishment of laboratories.

During the visit, Dr. Adelaja, chief medical director of the Hospital, extolled Rotary’s choice of the hospital to make the donations, adding that they put the nets to judicious use.

He, however, pleaded with the donors for a second return, stressing they are in need of chairs for patients to relax and power generating set.

Dr. Umo said the Club will look into the appeals.

Rotary’s impact starts with the members who work tirelessly with the clubs to solve some of their immediate communities' toughest challenges.

Their efforts are supported by Rotary International, member association, and The Rotary Foundation, which turns generous donations into grants that fund the work of the members and partners around the world.
