As Samsung’s first Africa Young Leaders get down to business, the electronic giant has promised to solidify the tempo in Nigeria.

Mr. Kunle Olaifa, head, Human Resources, Samsung Electronics West Africa, made the remark on Tuesday during Samsung Electronics’ Monthly Breakfast Meeting with the media in Lagos, recalling that in 2012, Samsung invited 12 African youths from across the continent to participate in the median edition of Africa Young Leaders Program.

Also at the meeting, Samsung disclosed its intention to have grand reception for Samsung Galaxy S4  in Nigeria on May 10.

Through the African Young Leaders initiative, Samsung aims to improve the lives of 100 African youths by 2015.

Olaifa said that the group has returned from their trip to Samsung Global Headquarters in Korea, having gained working experience of every aspect of the global IT giant’s business, and expected to have one year working experience for Samsung in their respective countries.

“At Samsung, we have a particular focus on developing people and ICT competence in Africa. Africa needs ICT to develop, and to grow our market in Africa, we need a healthy base of users. So, we are focusing on bringing in the best brains into our system, retaining them and exposing them to various training. We allow our workforce to develop also.

“Through the AYL we are getting the best candidates, not just for technological advancement, but in leadership and business development,” he said.

He added that the youths are identified through broad selection processes to identify those with the qualifications, background and ambition expected from them during the training.

Commenting on the all awaited Samsung Galaxy S4, Mr. Emmanouil Revmatas, business head, Hand Held Products, Samsung Electronics West Africa, said, the product will be made available to customers on May 6, and will be launched in Nigeria four day later.

He described the phone as life companion and outfitted with a deluxe large display to meet customers’ everyday need as regards that needs and guarantees everything from larger font size to immersive viewing, brilliant visuals are guaranteed.

The phone has new software features such as Smart Alerts, Smart Stay, and Smart Scroll, a 13-megapixel back camera, and a 4.99-inch (127 millimetres) 1080p display.
