Chinese Power Generating Firm, Shenzhen Energy Group has expressed its interest to work in partnership with Unity Bank Plc in the execution of the latter’s power projects in Nigeria in course of the Banks diversification ventures.
Unity Bank Plc in addition to its diversification in banking and finance services has concluded plans to venture into power generating projects to alleviate the epileptic power problems in Nigeria and thus the need to partner with the Chinese experts.
Shenzhen Energy Group has strong expertise in gas-turbine powered plants and has since its foray into Africa, developed partnerships with other similar groups in Africa and now wants Unity Bank to be one of its partners. The company is presently building a plant in Ghana.
Mr. Minsheng Chen, managing director of the company, gave these indications when officials of Unity Bank led by Alhaji Lamis Dikko, executive director, Commercial Banking visited the port city of Shenzhen, China during an investment forum organized by Nigerian Investment Promotions Commission.
A statement by Mr. Ndu Eke the Corporate Communications manager of Unity Bank, quotes Mr. Chen as saying that Shezhen Energy Group has secured a site in Geregu, near Ajaokuta in Kogi State to build a power plant.
Mr. Chen was thrilled to learn that Unity Bank is the only Nigerian Bank with head office in Abuja, which is just two hours drive from Geregu and indicated the value of working with the bank for the mutual benefits of the two organizations.
Unity Bank also has business links with other companies such as Jinjian Transfer Machinery Equipment Company Ltd, Pinghu Huatai Industry Company Ltd, Sino Africa United International Logistics Company Ltd and Zhejiang Yiwu Haufeng International Trading Company Limited
Unity Bank was one of the exhibitors at the Yi Wu International Communities three-day Trade Fair held in China recently.
The annual International Fair is reputed to be the largest in the world, and was held at the Meihu Exhibition Centre in Huangyuan.
