Silverbird Group will in April this year commission a cinema galleria worth N4billion in Abuja, which is funded by some Nigerian commercial banks through an initiative of private sector support for entrepreneurship development in the country.
Ben Murray-Bruce, chairman of the organization who spoke to journalists recently in Abuja when he received Senator Adamu Aliero, minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) stated that the commissioning of the structure would add value to the cultural and tourism potential of the nation’s capital city.
He said the edifice, which would serve as a cultural and historical museum would be dedicated to entertainment. “This is the first building of its kind to be built solely for entertainment,” he said.
Bruce hinted the FCT minister that the Silverbird Group is prepared to revive and manage the Abuja cultural village, transforming it into an international arena that would promote the rich cultural values of the nation’s capital city.
The FCT minister while inspecting the level of work at the galleria expressed delight in the project and said that the administration was prepared to partner any private organization that is committed to the development of Abuja; even as he promised to grant Silverbird’s request for an access road to the galleria.
“This is what we are telling Nigerians - come and invest in Abuja. It is a patriotic and nationalistic move by investing heavily in the city. This is the first building of its kind to be built solely for entertainment,” said the FCT minister.
