Sony, Japan-based audio visual equipment manufacturer, has confirmed it will be joining Africa’s media professionals, broadcasters and film-makers at the Broadcast, Film and Music Africa (BFMA) conference to be held in Nairobi over 10-11 July.
Billed as the largest gathering of broadcast professionals and film-makers in Africa, BFMA will this year celebrate and review the strides made by the continent in developing creative content and broadcasting.
Sony’s Dubai office confirmed the announcement, noting that Africa’s broadcast industry remained an important market for its professional range of film equipment. “We are excited and proud of Africa’s growing broadcast and film industry.
Sony continues to develop new technologies for its equipment that will help the creative and news industry become more expressive in their craft,” said Vahid Macvandi, Marketing Manager for Sony Professional Solutions.
Ryan Moroney, AITEC Africa Events Director, confirmed that BFMA would host a multimedia workshop by Sony on “How to choose the right video formats”. “We are also delighted to have a renowned producer and professional cameraman Nick Hughes as another Sony workshop facilitator, who will offer tips on ‘advanced camera settings’”, he said.
Other training workshops at the conference include one on digital microphones, “ The AES-42 Protocol: The benefits of transporting audio from microphones in a digital format and the methods used to achieve this”, by Ryan Burr of Sennheiser from the UK.
Brian Whitehead of the Creative Arts University in the UK will be facilitating workshops at the BFMA on “Branding and creating an identity for portfolio development” and “CASE STUDY: The design and repackaging of a definitive collector’s piece.”
