The finalists selected for this year’s edition of Star Quest, the yearly music talents hunt programme sponsored by Nigeria Breweries Plc, had their first taste of stardom with a big reception at the Star Fame land in Ikoyi.
The 36 were picked from over 12,000 young talents from auditions held in Lagos, Calabar, Owerri, Benin, Abuja and Makurdi.
Last week’s show was the welcome party and the finalists were required to justify their selection by the committee of music experts comprised of KC Presh, Paul “Play” IK Dairo, Sound Sultan and Weird MC.
Expectations are already high for the show proper, which will be broadcast on national and cable television stations next week.
The short listed stars in the making will enter the house to form the six bands that would feature in the 21-day reality TV show, which dangles N7.5m recording contract, N3.6m cash prize, a mini van and one year guaranteed accommodation in Lagos for the winning band, which would also feature in upcoming Star sponsored music concerts.
The show lasts till April 18 when the grand finale is held in Lagos after eliminations had been decided by public voting through SMS. The winning band is the one that had accumulated the highest votes cast by viewers.
Star Quest was introduced in 2002 and has so far produced four music bands - KC Presh, D’Accord, D’Jewels, and Diamonds. The programme is designed to enable the Star brand reach and connect to its consumers across Nigeria.
