Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has doled out over N16million and attractive prizes, including nine brand new Toyota Corolla cars and 60 motor-cycles, to redeem its promises to savers under its on-going savings bonanza.
The savings bonanza, which began in April this year and is slated to end in January 2010, has witnessed four draws in different towns across the country to select lucky winners of the various attractive prizes.
Funke Osibodu, group managing director/Chief Executive of the bank in her address at the draws, encouraged the bank’s customers and prospective ones to sustain their patronage of the savings bonanza, advising them to increase their savings so as to stand the chance of winning some of the attractive prizes declared.
She stressed that the savings bonanza was not only to mobilize deposits from widely dispersed savers across the country, but also to encourage the savings habit among the populace, especially the small scale savers.  “Such funds are to be used to support productive real sector investments, thereby facilitating rapid economic growth in the country,” she added.
She also used the opportunity of the draws to re-assure that Union Bank was being repositioned to provide excellent services to its highly esteemed customers, thereby guaranteeing better value for shareholders.
Apart from various cash prizes, 27 Toyota Corolla cars, 120 motor-cycles, three Toyota Land Cruiser Jeeps (Prado), as well as one three-bedroom bungalow luxury flat in Abuja and Lagos are still up for grab in the subsequent regional and the ultimate stallion draws.
Adekunle Adeosun, executive director, commercial and retail banking – South and consumer banking and Ibrahim Kwargana, Executive Director (Commercial and Retail Banking – North and Public Sector Business) represented Mrs. Osibodu at the Ibadan and Kaduna regional draws, respectively.
At the regional draw in Ibadan, Messrs Temidayo Fabusuyi and Aderibigbe Adeboye as well as Chief Albert Oyegunwa won brand new Toyota Corolla cars. At the Kaduna draw, Messrs. Isaac Jatau and Livinus Okere and Mrs. Eunige Nbabuike were lucky winners of the cars declared while 40 motor-cycles were won by lucky savers at both draws.
Affirming the thoroughness adopted by Union Bank to select winners at the draws, Oladokun Oluponle of the Consumer Protection Council said the council was satisfied with the steps taken by the bank in ensuring that winners were not denied their legitimate rights.
He commended the bank for the effective, open and credible conduct of the bonanza, noting that only credible organizations would fulfill their promises at this trying period.
