Union Bank Embraces IT Services

Union Bank of Nigeria Plc in its bid to reduce service turn around time by rendering quality service to its customers has embarked on a business process roll out project to cover 120 of its branches, this year.
Mrs. Boye Akintola assistant general manager, disclosed this at a one day training session organized for representatives of selected branches to pilot the business roll out project, an integral part of the enterprise transformation implementation exercise, Project GEAR.
She said “the project demands all requests for ATM cards to be made online and prohibits branches of the bank from collecting and dispatching ATM cards requests to e-banking”.
The project forbids the use of physical statement collection as well as physical statement requisition register as all records are to be kept electronically using Microsoft Excel. Hence, corporate and individual customers’ requests are to be mailed in PDF format to the customer as requested.
The Union Bank, the first bank to launch the latest upgraded flexcube has done away with written application for the reactivation of dormant account, and has redesigned and deployed a reactivation form with reactivation report to be generated on flexcube.
The assistant manager maintained that the issuance of savings identity cards have also been stopped, signature and photograph of account owners are to be captured by the flexcube.
All manual reports on customer account closure and stopped cheque maintenance are to be generated and reviewed on flexcube. Cheque requisition is expected to be managed online between branches and cheque management centres.
Akintola stated that “the changes were in line with the bank’s new culture of efficient service delivery, and charged staff members to imbibe the culture of mutual benefit”.
