A24 Media has launched a web portal for material from contributors, journalists and broadcasters from all over Africa, which allows all interested parties view diverse content and download them.
“We hold the belief that Africa has a largely positive side that is rarely told and with this in mind, we aim to showcase the positive side in our continent, but without shying away from the negative side. Our mandate is to tell the African story from an African perspective,” said Asif Sheikh, CEO, A24 Media.
“And as part of our desire to make the site more navigable for our clients, we have developed a new Buyers Page that will contain, among others; various unique content we have, special daily and weekly offers and a wide variety of series programming from all over Africa.”
The series section has an array of programming from renowned broadcasters like Al-Jazeera Channel with the award winning Witness documentary series and the Saving Soweto series. For the business-minded, BBC’s Africa Business Report is a three part series that provides insight to business trends, highlighting the challenges and triumphs in the African continent, while CNBC’s Business Episodes delves into the world of market trends and investment opportunities within the continent. To the spiritually inclined, a series of five main series programmes is on offer. These series range from Kuwa Tofauti, a youth focused show that addresses challenges
facing the young people in our continent, to Family Doctor which is aimed at advocating for a healthy lifestyle and addresses diseases that people suffer, by seeking expert opinion on how to treat and control these diseases and disorders prevalent in today’s society. Inspirational tunes are on display through Shake, a show that gives stage to contemporary christian music.
“Our weekly specials in the Buyers Page will provide our clients with diverse video content that is representative of the happenings around the African continent, while the Free-to-Air portion will contain footage that is available for free to our clients. We also have over 2000 videos from over 40 countries across Africa that you can pay as you go, while new content keeps on coming every week,” he stated.
“This unique platform will also encourage citizens from around Africa and the world, via the use of mobile phone and the internet, to give their voice and opinion on otherwise unheard of topics that impact on them. This will also potentially help them earn some revenue from the stories submitted.”
“This is a revolutionary concept that gives light to Africa’s plight and triumphs while at the same time involving the people of Africa to tell their story,” Sheikh concluded.
