The battle line appears to have been drawn in the internationally acclaimed music game show, Don’t Forget the Lyrics (DFTL) as contestants brace up for an outstanding lyrical recollections in a bid to clinch the N20 million star prize at stake.
Zain’s Don’t Forget the Lyrics broadcasts every Wednesday on AIT between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, NTA between 8.00p.m and 9.00p.m and TVC from 8.30pm-9.30pm.
According to Emeka Oparah, Zain’s head of Corporate Communications, viewers of the show can get a chance to win the biggest prize of N20 million in Nigerian game show history by sending an SMS of the correct answers to questions asked during the show to the short-code: 8899.
He informed that viewers can also participate on the show as contestants by either calling 2299 or sending ‘Lyrics’ to 2299. “The show is not about how well one can sing, but about how well one can remember the lyrics of songs. Indeed, it is not about your voice but about your memory.”
Commenting on the format of the family television game show, Oparah said the programme will take the same set of connections with some popular, exciting quiz programmes on television, noting that the major difference will be the fact that contestants will not be expected to answer questions but to fill in the lyrics of popular songs.
He further stressed that in addition to other unique benefits of the TV programme, small screen viewers will be treated to an exciting experience as the show will be entertaining, humorous and exhilarating, adding that the series is a must-see for youth, adults, and the young at heart.
The spokesman also disclosed that the music game show is open to all residents of Nigeria aged 16 and above, who have great passion for music of any genre (local/international) and who want to become instant millionaires through their ability to remember lyrics of their favourite songs correctly.
Don’t Forget the Lyrics made its debut in the United States just over a year ago and is currently running in 31 countries across 4 continents. The Nigerian version, which is anchored by radio personality, Kamal Salau is the very first in Africa and has the biggest star prize in the history of reality TV shows in the country.
