Segun Emmanuel, a commercial motorcycle rider and eight other winners in the ongoing Glo “text 4 millions” promo recently received their cheques at the second edition of the Glo Laffta Fest Show held in Enugu.
Bustling with excitement at their new status, the new Glo millionaires danced and celebrated with the excited crowd who had come to share in the evening of entertainment courtesy Nigeria’s national telecom operator, Globacom.
Among the new millionaires who collected their cheques at the event were Eromosele Franklin, a civil engineer from Port Harcourt, Augustine Akor, a brick-layer from Abuja, Ahmed Anifowoshe, a driver from Kwara State and Raymond Akpo, an Inspector of Taxes with the Delta State Inland Revenue Board.
Others were Stephen John-Oti, a civil servant from Abuja, Alex Ugadu a foodstuff seller in Agege, Lagos, Omobola Ishie, a Lagos based businesswoman who is winning for the sixth time and Dr. Yusuf Ahmadu, a medical doctor based in Maiduguri, Borno State.
A winner in the recently concluded Glo “Win N’ Rule” promo, Theophilus Nwabueze also collected the keys to a brand new Peugeot 307 car which he won during the promo at the event.
The winners expressed joy and excitement about winning the N1m prize and told the equally excited crowd what they intend to do with the unexpected boost to their finances.
According to Emmanuel, the prize money will be used for the education of his two teenage children. “This promo is good. I did not expect to win. I will use the money to train my 2 children who are students at the Lagos City Polytechnic”, he said.
Another education devotee who is determined to bless his family with the unexpected income is Augustine Akor, a mason based in Abuja . “I am just too happy. It’s a miracle because I never believed it could happen to me. My family is more than happy about this. I will use the money to sponsor my brother and my children up to university level”, he declared.
For Alex Ugadu, the prize money came as such a big surprise that he has decided to invest it in tangible assets. “I thank God for Globacom because I’ve been using their line for five years without any problem. I want to start my own house with the money so I can see what Glo has done for me”, he stated.
Winning in the Glo promo has turned out to be an unexpected reversal of fortune for Ahmed Anifowoshe, a driver and former secretary of the transporters' union (NURTW) in Banni, Kwara State who had lost three of his vehicles in sad circumstances since 2006. “Glo has rebuilt my life. As a transporter, I can now buy another vehicle and pay the outstanding on the loan I took when I lost my three vehicles 3 years ago. My wife and children are just too happy”, he said.
The winner of a brand new Peugeot 307 in the recently concluded “Win N’Rule” promo, Theophilus Nwabueze also had words of commendation for Globacom. “More grease to Globacom. They should keep it up. My family is so happy that my elder brother is here to share in my joy and witness the presentation of the new car”, he said.
The event, which featured the best of Nigerian music, comedy and entertainment, was anchored by ace comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka alongside other leading professionals in the industry such as Basketmouth, I Go Dye, Klint Da Drunk and Ogus Baba who thrilled the audience to rib cracking jokes. Top rated music stars such as Faze, Brakket and Slow Dog also threw the audience into ecstasy with their outstanding performances at the show.
In attendance were top dignitaries from the public and private sector in Enugu State and Glo ambassadors Chioma Chukwuka and Nonso Diobi who presented the winners with their prizes.
The Lafta Fest moved to Kaduna on September 27 before the grand finale which is scheduled to hold at the Expo Centre of Eko Hotel, Lagos on October 4.
The winner of the N30m grand prize and other daily and weekly winners of N1m will be presented with their prizes at this event.
The “text 4 millions” promo offers N555m in prizes including daily prizes of N1m, two monthly prizes of N10m and a grand prize of N30m at the end of the promo.
Other prizes include free N100 airtime for 10,000 subscribers every day, laptops, I-pods and generators.
