Globacom, telecoms giant in partnership with the Ondo state government, has provided an initial 5000 postpaid lines for all civil servants in Ondo State service.
Under the arrangement, the telephone lines have been networked into a Closed User Group, and workers will call one another at no cost, while calls made outside the group will be at a substantially reduced rate.
The lines are serially activated within the user group and are placed on the Easy Pay platform where they can have their lines credited with the normal recharge cards for calls outside the CUG.
According to Mr. Tunde Amunikoro, Globacom’s head of public sector department, the telecoms package will help to close the communication gap within the State civil service as it provides quick and cost free communication thereby reducing turn-around time drastically.
Also speaking, Mr. Phil Egunlaye, Ondo State chairman of ICT, said that new lines will be added gradually until all the civil servants in the State are connected to the CUG. He expressed satisfaction that Glo is the official telecoms partner of the state, saying that the company is up to the task.
Globacom recently entered into a similar relationships with the Rivers and Ogun State governments where the same facilities were provided
