Emmanuel Okoegwale has been retained for the third year in a row to serve as a judge in the highly prestigious GSMA global awards in the Best Mobile Money category for the 2013 annual event in Barcelona, Spain.
He served as a judge in the Banking the unbanked category in 2011 and 2012 edition.
GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide.
Spanning more than 220 countries, the GSMA unites nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies, and media and entertainment organizations.
The GSMA also produces industry-leading events such as the Mobile World Congress and Mobile Asia Congress.
Emmanuel is best known for his activities in the mobile financial ecosystem around Africa as a leading advocate and promoter of the mobilemoneyafrica website, the continent’s flagship publication dedicated to mobile financial services – www.mobilemoneyafrica .com, in its third year of operation and it is the industry reference for the ecosystem in Africa. He is also Nigeria CommunicationsWeek’s columnist.
He is active in agent’s capacity building and sustainability in the last three years in Nigeria and had worked extensively in developing capacities covering the subject matter for Local Banks, mobile money providers across Africa, UAE, international development partners and universities outside the African continent.
