HiTV has introduced a commercial bouquet for current or prospective subscribers whose purpose of purchasing a HiTV decoder is for public viewing. This includes hotels, restaurants, cafes and viewing centres.
Olumide Amure, the company’s chief operating officer, stated that it became necessary to communicate the addition of this new bouquet to HiTV subscribers so that they can make better informed choices in their subscription plans.
According to him, although the pay-TV business is primarily for private viewership, the company has made provisions for customers who desire to use it for strictly commercial purposes or who intend to bundle it with their own services to the public.
He announced that from the first of July, all viewing centers, restaurants and cafes will be required to pay a subscription fee of N20, 000.00 per month for the viewership package, while all hotels will pay N1.200 per room per month for the hotel package; and each compliant commercial subscriber will receive an authorized viewing centre signage and will be supported by a dedicated help desk.
Amure said HiTV was also working on some initiatives with other notable brands to improve the standards of the viewing centres, making it a more viable business for the operators.
