ITU Telecom World 2013 is continuing the ‘one conversation that matters’ this year in Thailand under the theme ‘Embracing Change in a Digital World’.
This is supported by a new website launched today to complement the event’s focus on high quality discussion and debate.
Preparations are underway for ITU Telecom World 2013, which will take place in Bangkok, 19 – 22 November, where we will build on the success and findings of last year’s event in Dubai.
The new website http://world2013.itu.int is designed to deliver on ITU Telecom World’s promise of bringing together leaders from the entire spectrum of the information and communications technology sector, public and private, for dialogue and exchange that can deliver results.
“ITU Telecom World 2013 will provide a platform to address emerging issues on digital development,” said Hamadoun I. Touré, ITU secretary-general
“For a conversation that matters, you have to bring together the people that matter – leaders from both the public and private sectors. This brings about a better understanding within this dynamic industry and addresses the challenges and opportunities that abound.”
ITU Telecom World 2013 will focus on strategic debate at the highest level. “In an era of rapid change in the digital environment, it’s the knowledge sharing, networking and bouncing of ideas that can really make a difference to the future growth of the ICT sector,” Dr Touré said.
Alongside the discussion and debate, ITU Telecom World 2013 will include an integral showfloor experience highlighting technology, solutions and investment opportunities.
Networking spaces and meeting lounges are designed to bring together ICT industry leaders in a convivial environment.
Immediately preceding ITU Telecom World 2013, ITU’s Connect Asia-Pacific Summit will take place on 18 November at the same venue in Bangkok. Leaders in the ICT sector, including government, industry and financial institutions, will address the mobilization of resources and forge partnerships to implement regional initiatives in ICT development and connectivity.
“We are proud to partner with the government of the Kingdom of Thailand,” Dr Touré said.
“Bangkok is one of Asia’s most important business and commercial centres, where the ICT industry is transforming lives by driving economic development and social transformation.”
