National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] at the World Trade Centre in Dubai with Transatlantic Media Company (TMC) in order to maximize the opportunities inherent in the broadcast media during the 22nd edition of Cable, Broadcast and Satellite [CABSAT] event schedule to hold in Dubai.

Disclosing the direction and content of the agreement, Dr. Bayero Agabi, president and CEO of the company said the company, which is the producer of Cyber Africa television and magazine, would market CABSAT in Nigeria and Ghana as Africa's regional partner.

At the event, he informed, broadcast technocrats and content producers would be attracted to deliberate on the future of Africa's cable, broadcast and satellite prospects.

"As the world adapts to digital content delivery, it is the thrust of our organisation to help project the inherent values of Africa's culture and heritage at the world stage via our superb broadcast content. We are committed to assist NBC to fast track the migration from analogue to digital broadcast in 2016”, he said.

In a similar vein, NBC would also collaborate with the company to ensure Nigeria's participation at the event.

A statement by the Commission confirmed that the partnership with “TMC for CABSAT 2016 is part of our agency’s mandate to ensure that appropriate modalities are put in place to make Nigeria meet up with International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Digital Switch Over (DSO)”.

The DSO, which is meant to be achieved by the new date of 2017, would be fast tracked with proper planning; as such, CABSAT would bring broadcasters, programme-makers, post-production and multimedia specialists, digital terrestrial, and satellite transmission companies from Africa, Asia and Middle East to showcase their content and equipment.

CABSAT is scheduled to hold at the World Trade Centre, Dubai from March 8-10, 2016 and would attract key Nollywood, Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic television and content- creation, distribution and monetization trends as well as position brand alongside global trans media, technical, engineering and production leaders around the future of broadcast, satellite, and content delivery.

CABSAT serves as the perfect medium for all individual decision makers, buyers, and sellers who are active in the electronic media, film, and audio entertainment content markets to experience unique networking and business opportunities formulate new strategies and create future partnerships.
