Samsung Electronics West Africa has kicked off its Galaxy 11 campaign in Nigeria with a series of consumer engagement activities holding at the Ikeja City Mall in Lagos, in furtherance of its commitment to rewarding and inspiring consumers in communities in which it operates.

The engagement periods scheduled between Thursday, May 29 and Thursday, June 5, 2014 will ensure consumers participating in the activation stand the chance of winning fantastic gifts, freebies and prizes, including the new Galaxy S5.

Banky W and Kate Henshaw, Samsung’s brand ambassadors, as well as other celebrity star attractions will also visit the activation site on select days to engage attendees at the week-long event.

Designed to deepen consumer engagement and help customers utilize the newest Samsung Galaxy devices in unlocking useful and entertaining experiences, Galaxy 11 is a multi-platform global marketing campaign that deploys elements of fantasy in telling the story of attempts by 13 international football players to save the planet from alien domination in a virtual “winner takes Earth” match.

Featured within the campaign is a “Galaxy 11 Team Training” video, which provides consumers and football fans alike with a peek into the exciting and rigorous training that the Franz Beckenbauer-led Galaxy 11 team players, including Iker Casillas, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nigeria’s Victor Moses, are undertaking in preparation for their match against the aliens, using the Galaxy S5, Gear 2 and the fitness band, Gear Fit as secret weapons.

The training video highlights how features of the latest Galaxy devices, including water resistance, enhanced auto-focus and heart-rate monitoring capability, help the team perform at their very best, and can be viewed on the Galaxy 11 campaign website, as well as across Samsung Mobile social channels.

Mr. Brovo Kim, managing director of Samsung Electronics West Africa, said the Galaxy 11 campaign represents the latest example of Samsung’s approach to developing innovative promotions that leverage its people-inspired technology while uniting fans’ passions and helping to enhance their everyday experiences in new ways.

“Football is one of the most popular sports in the world and at Samsung, we recognize its power as a unifying force to rally and connect Nigeria’s passionate fans. Through this unique campaign, we want to combine Nigerians’ universal love for the game and our Galaxy range of devices towards deepening our relationship with our consumers,” he said.

As part of the campaign, Samsung has released four new Galaxy 11-themed mobile games to provide fans with the opportunity of showcasing their virtual football skills.

"The Match: Striker Soccer Galaxy 11", available to Galaxy S5 and all Android users from Google’s Playstore, provides fans with the chance to play as part of the Galaxy 11 team and also take on the alien team for prizes that will be awarded to individual players.

Other games in the Galaxy 11-themed games package include the Galaxy 11 "Cannon Shooter," "Soccer Wars" and "Shooting Soccer," all specially designed to provide Galaxy device users with the ultimate football experience.

On his part, Mr. Emmanouil Revmatas, director of Information Technology and Mobile, Samsung Electronics West Africa, said: "We are thrilled to provide our Nigerian consumers with new and exciting ways to participate in the Galaxy 11 campaign. This roadshow provides an avenue for our consumers to learn more about the key features of their new Galaxy devices.

“The promotion is also our way of showing our appreciation to our consumers. Through the Galaxy 11 platform, we hope to fuel Nigerians' passion and enthusiasm for football while spurring them to delve deeper into the spirit of the upcoming football season."

As a special promo, Samsung is offering consumers a free car charger or power bank with each Galaxy S5 smartphone purchase. In addition to this, the company is currently offering a special bundle discount to individuals who purchase the Gear Fit alongside the Galaxy S5.

Samsung Electronics Co. Limited is a global leader in technology, opening new possibilities for people everywhere.

Through relentless innovation and discovery, the company is transforming the worlds of televisions, smartphones, personal computers, printers, cameras, home appliances, LTE systems, semiconductors and LED solutions.

The Group employs 236,000 people across 79 countries with annual sales of US$187.8 billion.
