Telecoms operator Vodacom has broadened its international prepaid data roaming footprint from 10 to 64 countries.
In a statement, Vodacom says its international prepaid data roaming will now be available in countries including the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Zambia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Turkey and Hong Kong.
Previously, customers travelling outside of SA had access to roaming services in Botswana, France, Germany, Kenya, Lesotho, USA, UK, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe, it says.
Vodacom notes that by increasing its roaming footprint, it is ensuring it continues to ease the cost burden for its customers travelling abroad.
"Currently, prepaid and top-up customers on Vodacom can access voice and SMS services worldwide. The service is available when activating basic roaming. 4G data roaming is also available by default in 42 of these countries."
For customers holidaying locally, it has prepared its network for the influx of people at SA's popular destinations, including the deployment of 52 temporary mobile stations along the coast, as well as some inland destinations, Vodacom adds.
